This month meet: Abigail Adams

What’s your role: HR Manager

How long have you been employed at Greystone Technology: 6 years

What made you initially want to work here, and what makes you want to stay:

“After graduating college I knew that my goal was to either go to California or move to Denver Colorado so I started looking for jobs that would allow me to do that. So I began reaching out to my network to see what opportunities were available and ended up interviewing at Greystone as a result of that. Initially I started here as an office logistics  coordinator but I did not really know what an MSP was because I was fresh out of college so it was a huge surprise when I first started!”

“As far as what makes me want to stay here I would have to say it’s the people! Now that I am the HR Manager here at Greystone I really do feel like everyone who works here is like a personal client of mine and I enjoy being able to and make their lives just a little bit easier. Additionally everyone here is incredibly supportive of me in my role and understands the challenges of recruiting in IT. That and the fact that in 6 years here I have had the opportunity to really grow my skills, when I first graduated college I had no idea I would be an HR Manager for an IT company in just a few short years, and I appreciate that I have been able to grow in my career here.”

Tell us about a time when you worked hard to understand a client’s unique needs and went above and beyond their expectations:

“Around this time last year Greystone was experiencing rapid growth, which was awesome, but also required us to add staff at a more rapid pace then is normal. At this time I was the only HR person here and also the only person who was doing recruiting. Although this was a bit of a hectic time I was able to find amazing candidates and go above and beyond to help get us to fully staffed!”

What’s the most rewarding part of your job:

“I get to bring people together! Especially for our all staff summits, I love being able to bring people together and see people forming new connections or catching up with old friends. The other thing I really enjoy is when you are recruiting and get a great hire, and people who are working with that person you placed just keep giving you feedback like yes this was totally the right person! I also love getting to hear the feedback from people currently here as well as the candidate about the supportive culture that exists at Greystone.”

When you think of Greystone’s culture, what 3 words come to mind: Supportive, fabulous, and Growth

What are some of your hobbies outside of work:

“Taking pictures and hanging out with two of the sweetest most adorable chihuahua mixes to walk this planet!  I also love gardening both inside and outside, and I like refurbishing old furniture that I found at the thrift store.”

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself: I have over 60 house plants in my house!
