Getting to know you

We work with many different organizations within various industries. Because of this, we have to approach every project uniquely. We first start by getting to know you. You will first meet with a few from the Development team and share as much as possible about your prospective project. We also want to know who you are as an organization. What makes you unique? What are your goals? Who is your audience? All of this context helps us to know how to best shape your project. We may request more than one meeting for technical discovery purposes.

PROPOSAL & ESTIMATION​

Following this initial meeting and/or technical discovery process, we will take 1-2 weeks to create the proposal and estimate for your project. Many of our custom applications will start with an estimate for phase 1. Once an estimate and scope are defined, we then work it into a Velocity plan where a monthly budget is set and the build will commence based on a backlog of features to accomplish each phase and release.

During the project

Your project will start with a kickoff meeting where all expectations will be communicated. Check-in meetings will be set for every 2 weeks until the end of the project. This allows for everyone to stay on the same page throughout the project. A staging site will be created to allow, giving you the opportunity to stay-in-the-know for the entirety of the project build.

Going live

The end has come - it's time to launch your application! We will perform our go-live checklist but also encourage our clients to test the app prior to it going live. Let's iron out all of the bugs prior to launching!

after the project

We encourage all of our clients to think about the hosting and security of their applications. Consider our Manage Hosting plan for our custom applications. It'll keep your application secure, giving you the confidence and assurance that your application will be working FOR you, not against you. Our plan will have monthly minor patch updates, uptime monitoring, and regular backups.

Here are a few common questions we hear from our clients. What questions do you have?

Custom applications requirements are unique for each client. To define a timeline is entirely dependent on the specifics of each project. To accomplish the speediest of timelines, we recommend phasing out the project to have phase 1 be the most important features – the features that need to be there in order to go live. From there, we would iterate into additional phases. 

All of our custom applications are built on a foundational framework that give us the building blocks. After this framework is in place, yes, everything else is built from scratch and according to the project’s specs.

Yes! All of our applications come with a responsive design built-in. Responsive design means that the application is built to respond appropriately to whatever device is being used. This application can even have it’s own set of features/information specific to phone users. Let us know if this an important feature for you!

The short answer is “no”. We know that the word “App” can be interchangeable for applications vs. mobile apps that you download from the Apple/Google Play stores. Our applications are meant to be browser-based and not native to iOS or Android, which means that it will work on any browser.
