This month meet: Megan Cline, Direct of Development
Name: Megan Cline
What’s your role: Director of Development
How long have you been employed at Greystone Technology: 11 years
What made you initially want to work here, and what makes you want to stay: “Initially The website development company that I was working for at the time was acquired by Greystone. That being said, the reason why I still want to work here, and what has kept me here, has been the ability to go into different areas of the business. First I started out with digital marketing, SEO etc, then I went into development and designed websites for about 5 years, project management after that, and ending up here as Director of Development.”
“As I have progressed in my career I have continued to lean into the team that is greystone, and it has just been fun! Additionally, I feel heard and valued here, and there have been plenty of opportunities to step into leadership. Being able to influence people on my team and other teams has been very rewarding for me. It feels like there are not any boundaries in terms of what I can do here or how I can grow professionally. Now for the past 4 years, I have been managing web development at Greystone and love the team that I get to lead and the work that we do!”
Tell us about a time when you worked hard to understand a client’s unique needs and went above and beyond their expectations: “When I first took over the development team it was honestly in a bit of a chaotic state and there was work that needed to be done to get it back up to our standards. As a result, there were a number of web projects that were not on track and those clients were understandably losing trust in our ability to deliver. One project, in particular, was for a large client that we absolutely did not want to lose, and the project was not going well.”
“In order to get this project back on schedule, there were some tough conversations that needed to be had. After listening, and acknowledging areas where quite frankly we had not delivered we were able to correct the course and accurately scope out the rest of the work. Not only were we able to successfully deliver the new features of their current website on time and budget, but we were also able to gain the trust of the client again. Fast forward four years and they are still a client! We now meet with them on a weekly basis to discuss website initiatives, strategy, site health, and more. We love them and they love us!”
“Ultimately this experience really helped me to understand how to scope out a website project accurately and to come up with action plans based on that scope. It also showed me that I can successfully navigate difficult situations and gave me more confidence in my own abilities to handle complex website builds!”
What’s the most rewarding part of your job: “The team I get to work with is amazing! Just seeing how well they get along, how much they have grown over the years, as well as seeing some of the successes we have had!”
When you think of Greystone’s culture, what 3 words come to mind: “Authentic, hard-working, and quality.”
What are some of your hobbies outside of work: “I like to do any sort of DIY projects, right now my husband and I are working on some woodworking projects, I have been exploring watercolors recently, I have always been into art and creativity, I play piano and sing, and of course loving my dogs!”
Tell us one interesting fact about yourself: “I sang in Carnegie Hall in high school!”
