As you may or may not be aware the challenges of the last 12 to 15 months have caused significant supply chain disruptions across a variety of industries. This has resulted in price increases to goods like lumber and food.
Recently our hardware and software procurement team was notified by industry partners to expect similar supply chain disruptions in the technology market. This will likely lead to fluctuating prices as well as increased lead times for the foreseeable future primarily for hardware but also potentially software. It is likely that we could start seeing some of the instability and subsequent ripples towards the start of Q3 2021. This coincides with a recovering U.S. economy and could carry implications as employers bring on new employees at increased rates
Keeping your hardware and software up to date is important for a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons is that out-of-date hardware or software can be particularly vulnerable to cyber-attacks. On top of that new technology is faster, capable of processing more, and can lead to improved collaboration and faster results for your client.
While we cannot say for certain yet if or when these disruptions will happen, we are warning our clients to expect price increases and longer lead times for products like laptops, servers, etc.
Greystone Technology has a dedicated hardware and software procurement team to give our clients the best pricing possible on their technology. If you are concerned about upcoming supply chain issues in the technology market reach out to our procurement team today to see how we can help.
